Vonage launches application for iPhone, iPod, iPad, and Android smartphones for free calls and text

Vonage apps to make free phone calls and text
Vonage is undoubtedly a big dog in VoIP industry. They have a large user base in multiple countries even though their prices are on the higher end. The reason for their customer retention is that their customers are loyal to them and would not switch. The reason for this loyalty is unmatchable hassle free service compared to other voip service providers. Vonage has started offering $9.99 per month for unlimited phone calls plan to all its new and existing customers.

Vonage also launched their smartphone applications that will let you make phone calls using your Vonage account. Vonage Extension is a highly preferred function that promoted the download of their smartphone application. To add value to their existing smartphone applications Vonage has launched two new features - Free calls and free text messaging to anyone in USA, Canada and Peurto Rico. Calls can be made to numbers other than Vonage customers and even to people who do not have Vonage app downloaded. You can make calls over both Wi-fi and 3G and these calls will not count against your mobile phone minutes.

The application behaves in the same way as other such applications such as Viber, Maaii, and netTalk. It scans your contacts list and if any of your contacts is already on Vonage you can call them using Vonage app directly, even internationally. If not you can still call them through the application but the calls are only free to people in USA, Canada, and Peurto Rico.

Features of the new Vonage free calling and texting app

  • Available for both iOS based devices (iPod touch, iPhone, iPad) and Android phones
  • Free calls and texts for limited time - then it will cost $5 to $10 per month
  • Free calling and texting only to USA, Canada, and Peurto Rico
  • Use of a new HD codec for better call quality
