MetroPCS unknowingly offers free calls to international cell phone numbers along with landline numbers
If you are about to get a new cell phone service you might want to consider MetroPCS. If you make a lot of calls to Indian landlines (and few cell phones too), then this might be the offer you are looking for. We talked about metropcs' international calling for $5 per month plan a long time ago, that post was read by almost all the readers if our analytics engine makes sense. The problem with metropcs is that it does not allow you to make calls to Indian cell phone numbers. That was a major deal killer for this plan. However, our team in India has reported that new series from various operators are recognized as land line numbers by MetroPCS. We did not contact metroPCS for obvious reasons, to ask how long will these numbers treated as landline numbers.
Currently Working Number Series
However, if you are a metroPCS owner you can try your luck by calling your favorite numbers. The series that we tried start with either 7, or 8 or 90, for example you can dial 011917XXXXXXXXX, or 011918XXXXXXXXX, or 0119190XXXXXXXX. If you want to check if your number is included in free calls plan or not please use the Call Rate Finder and then type your number and click submit. You can find a link to Call Rate Finder in our older blog on $5 international calling plan.
Total plan Cost
MetroPCS likes to advertise itself as a provider with unlimited options, such as unlimited text, calling minutes and data plan. Additionally, you can opt for turn by turn GPS navigation and several such features for paying nothing to a few bucks. You can consider it a decent service for around USD 50 a month which is a great value compared to other players in this industry. A full list of plans and other information can be located at their plan details page.
