Betamax launches Actionvoip - make cheap International PC to Phone Calls

Betamax is a well known name in the voip industry and they keep adding varieties to their services. We have blogged about other applications by BetaMax earlier at Free Calls Hub. MediaRingtalk is one example of such applications that let you make free phone calls from your computer. If you have a Mic and speaker you can make free pc to phone calls using MediaringtalkActionvoip is another application in market that we used recently. We quite like this application and therefore recommend it to everyone as a cheap international call service.

How to get Actionvoip on your computer

Actionvoip is a great service unequivocally, however as all voip services need you to use a pbx or a software application, same is the case with Actionvoip. You need to download their application to your computer to make cheap international calls. Calls made to India using Actionvoip cost you around 1.5 cents for landline (including VAT) and 1.7 cents (including vat) for cell phones. This price is the cheapest, to the best of my knowledge, of all voip service providers. Update: There is IndiaLd offering cheap calls to India for just 0.8 cents per minute which is more than 2 times cheaper than Actionvoip's rates.

Coming back to Actionvoip the application is easy to use. The options are self explanatory, you would not need to go back to instructions to use it. The call quality is also good enough. To start making cheap international calls you need to

  1. Download the client
  2. Buy credits
  3. Make cheap international calls.
What are the options to make calls using ActionVoip

  • PC to PC calls: Two Actionvoip users can make free international calls with each other (pc-to-pc). If your contacts have a pc coupled with a Mic and speaker you can ask them to Install Actionvoip and you two can talk for free. I agree that nothing beats free calls but sometimes you just can't wait for a new offer and for those times Actionvoip is good to go for. Actionvoip cheap calls are supported by Betamax which is a big name in voip industry and hence they are reliable to be in the market for long term. Other voip providers such as Nymgo and Mediaringtalk have started offering cheap calls to India but Actionvoip beats all by it's competitive prices. If you start using Actionvoip please share your experience with all of us.
  • Wi-fi SIP calls: If you are on a wi-fi/broadband network you can use Actionvoip to make calls using SIP. There are various devices supported by Actionvoip. For instance you can use Actionvoip services with:
    SIP ATA (Analogue Telephone Adapter),
    SIP Router, and
    xDSL Mode
  • Mobile Applications: Actiovoip has launched mobile applications that you can download on your smartphones to make cheap international phone calls. Read more about this in our post on Actionvoip's Smartphone applications.
  • Local Access numbers: If you can not access your PC then you can use this method. Here, you dial a local access number and then your international destination number to get connected.
  • Pc to Phone Calls: This obviously is what Actionvoip is all about.

Before we conclude there are few softwares available for iPhone and other smart phones which let you make calls from your phone without using your minutes. You can use any SIP client for this purpose. Thank you once again for reading this post.

  1. Hi,

How to use Action voip on my iPhone? I have been using Skype credits to call India from iPhone, which are very expensive(10c/min). Is it possible to attach Action SIP to Fring since Fring has an application in iTunes. I appreciate your time and efforts in responding to my question.

    Thanks,

    Kiran

  6. @TheGreatfixer: Those are some great questions. We wonder how many of them matter to an average voip user, but hey we give you brownie points for asking those.

Yes you can use SIP to SIP calling with almost all Betamax and Dellmont Sarl solutions, including Actionvoip.
The website does not talk about USA Toll free numbers but we guess you can not call them for free.
    The increment is in minutes.
    There is no connection fee.
With the Voipin number yes you can use SipBroker PSTN gateway to call.

Please let us know if you have any issue working these out.

  8. @TheGreatFixer: This is an old post and if the memory serves us right, you get to register for an in-bound number called voip-in number to get incoming calls. This is, however, not free and will cost you 1 Euro. This is similar to what they are doing for voipdiscount but we can't remember exactly if it was 1 Euro or free or something else.
The credit does not expire. You can keep it as long as you want.
