Voip service provider TataTalk offers unlimited phone calls to India at just $7.99 per month

cheap calls to indiaCalltoPBX frustrated its customers by doubling their rates for the simplecall plan, that is why we introduce this new plan for our readers. To make unlimited phone calls to India using CalltoPBX now you need to pay $20 per month. More frustrating fact is that they have stopped replying to the concerns. It is time to move on and we bring you something to try. We are in talks with a few voip service providers for some unlimited calls plans, especially for India and other countries too. In a recent poll, that we did on our blog, most of the readers chose that most of the times they make calls to India. Please take our current poll so that we know your minutes requirements and come up with tailor made plans for your particular needs.

We are sure you will like the plan we introduce today by TataTalk. We recently reviewed them for their call India for $5.99 per month unlimited plan but you were required to lock yourself in a one year long contract.

Unlimited phone calls to India for $7.99 per month

TataTalk has agreed to let our readers try their service for a month without locking into a long term contract. Thus, you can try unlimited phone calls to India for just $8 this month. To buy this plan, go to the registration page and click on Buy. You will need to provide your basic information and pay through paypal. If you do not have a paypal account you can register for paypal here. There is no commitment fee, maintenance fee or any other such fee. It is a clean, pay $8 and that is all, plan. If you want to continue using them you can then opt for $5.99 per month plan later with a 1 year contract.

Plan validity only for this week

The plan is a thanksgiving special promotion and only available till November 29, 2010. We do recommend this plan as this appears to be the cheapest unlimited plan for India. We have seen both positive and negative reviews about this company and we feel that one can risk $7.99 for a month. If something goes wrong you can always file a dispute with paypal and get your money back. You can register at their website to start using this plan.

How to make a Phone Call

Right now there is only 1 way to make a phone call, it is through the access number. Thanks to our reader lavsan for bringing this up. The exact steps are:

  1. Dial the access number 972-535-7784
  2. Dial the pin you will get after you buy this plan
  3. Enter your destination number in 011-91-xxxxxxxxx format

Bonus for our readers - $5 free credit

TataTalk has generously given us a few pins in the past. We have shared a few of them with some of our readers. We still have a $5 pin by TataTalk with us. we are going to give this pin to one lucky reader. In order to get this pin just share this post on your favorite social network, including FaceBook, Orkut, StumbleUpon, Digg and others. You will get one entry per sharing, so more sharing means more entries. Post a link to the page you shared as a comment or email us at freecallshub@gmail.com and we will have a draw on November 30th, 2010, where one of you will win a $5 free credit to make international calls anywhere in world. Best of luck, you could be the winner.

Is it possible to use their service by calling the above no. from gmail or any such service.
As i am from Romania and that is a US based no.

I tried doing the above and i was asked to enter the pin. If i buy the plan can i use it from my google a/c.

Or a specific no. has to be registered for it, If yes will google voice work with it.As you posted that you have acess to the pin can you pl. check it with your google A/c

    Thnx

    ReplyDelete
  6. Dear Lavsan,
Yes, you can use it with Google Voice. If you want to see if this will work from Romania please try with this pin number 73807273270. This pin is good for 10 minutes of phone calls. Please do not use this credit as other users might want to try if this works for them. You can however give a missed call to your friends to see if this actually works. Thank you once again.

  9. Dear Anony,

Once you register it will take a few hours before you get your pin in email. Please be patient, you will definitely get your pin.

There is only one access number right now. They might add some later but as of now that is the only option. Thank you.

  12. Hi,

I have purchased the $7.99 plan and so far it has been good if not better than calltopbx.

We can call from only one registered number. I am not sure if they can provide us with a pin number so that we can call from any phone.

Another drawback (it's actually advantageous for me, since now I can use my unlimited line and don't need a separate ATA) from calltopbx would be the need to have unlimited calling plan availbale on your phone line within the US; to be able to call the access number.

Hope others will share their experiences too.

    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  13. (contd..) I thought about them not giving pins to be able to call from different phone lines and it seems it could be because of abuse. Anyone who has the pin would be able to share it with their friends and abuse the system.

  14. hi,
i too purchased thanks giving special offer unlimited to india@$8. so far call quality is good, even i can say excellent. but only concern is,
    1) when they say unlimited, is there any cap on minutes usage(example like max:2000 min something like that).
    2) after 1 month what will happen to this plan, i mean will it disconnect or reqular call charges apply? if that is the case it will problem, one has to carefully watch 1 month expiry date.
the website is not giving much details. could any one share additional information on that plan

    ReplyDelete
  15. Dear Anony,
Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you find the service useful. As far as we know, there is no limiton monthly calls. After a month, you can opt for 5.99 per month by buying 1 year of service and paying in advance or you can opt for monthly $11 plan. Hope this helps.

  19. Hi,

I bought the plan from Tatatalk . I did not get the pin number . When i asked the customer care they said they will not give pin number for this plan. Now i have another problem that
i tried to update my phone number and sent a mail to Tatatalk customer care. But they did not reply and i am not able to call from my registered number too. When called from my rgistered number it says "you don't have enough credit limit". I tried reaching them since 2 days but couldn't.

    ReplyDelete
  20. To keep costs low and avoid unauthorized use of the single plan that one has paid for, they allow calls to originate only from a single number. It seems that they will allow you to change the registered number only once after you have purchased the plan. I am able to make calls from my registered phone number and so far the service has been good. Not sure what would happen as more users start using the system.

  39. Hi,
My name is Angad Aras. I registered with the tatatalk service on
Jan 19th. i have barely used the service for 3 days. I get this
message saying i dont have enough credit to make a call.
I use AT&T connection here and make my calls mostly during the night
or weekends. My current available minutes for nights and weekends are
more than 3000 so i definitely cannot run out of these minutes.
Please help me since i cannot make calls to India and feel cheated for
falling into a trap where services claim they are giving unlimited
calling for a certain rate and then talk about unavailability of
    credit.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Dear Angad,

We have heard back from Tata Talk team and they said that they are looking into your matter. We are posting the excerpt from their email here so that you can rest assured that you will have your account up and working asap:
    ------------------------------------------------
Thank you for your email and we really appreciate your customers' feedback. This is the only way we will be able to identify our weaknesses and work toward improving it. It is true that occasionally customers hear out of balance prompt. It is because we provide each customer with a set numbers or minutes. But, we refill it once it gets low. There are a few customers who fell down the cracks and we did refill them immediately.

As you know the VOIP business is not HACK FREE. The reason we keep a per-set amount is that in case our system becomes victim of fraud, we will be able to minimize the loss. But we do provide our customers with 3000 minutes of talk time which we believe is significant amount to talk for a month. If they exceed that, we definitely re-fill it. Again we do it to safeguard abuse, fraud.

Anyone who exceed the threshold of 3000 gets their minutes refilled free of cost. We do that automatically but again sometimes we miss it.

I will investigate the following complain from one of your member as he is claiming that he didn't exceed 3k. May be his account was setup incorrectly.

Please let us know if you have further questions, concerns!

Again, thanks for promoting our site!

  41. TataTalk.Com (Review)
I will say, the service is good (UNLIMITED) only for first month, with a lot of hick ups.
If you are looking for a true unlimited plan, this is not a plan for you.
Numerous messages to stop you from making a call
    1. Credit expired
    2. Will ask you again and again to dail the required number and after three time will hang up.

Sounds like irritating service when it comes to communication era.

However, if all those hick ups you got survived for a month, next month they will not offer you unlimited access. They will limit your monthly usage to some thousand minutes. So it is not a unlimited calling plan.

They increased their tariff to $14.99 since Feb 01 2011. I would suggest to get services from a bigger player if you need to avoid hickups and irritation from cell phone services.

  42. I am a big time caller to India. I bought one month service for trial. After using for three days, got message "you do not have enough credit for this call message". Needed to call cutomer service and account was restored next day when the guy called back. Another three days same issue. Same thing repeated for few times and now after 15 days, he says you are abusing the account and disabled it. I told him that I will dispute the charges and the answer was, we will bill you for minutes to your phone provider.

This is not a real deal. If you are calling less then it is better to use other calling cards. Also you are limited to call from only one number. It seems this is a one man show providing the service.

    ReplyDelete
  43. ap-
How big time caller are you? Being a telecom professional myself, there is no such bulk deal a company can obtain from other wholesaler. In this case, I am 99% sure that Tatatalk.com is buying minutes per min basis and selling it as unlimited. Most likely ( I think i read it somewhere) they are betting that some other customers low call volume will help offset the high users.
If you are using say 10000 minutes per month and obviously based on Reliance rate, you are costing them over $200.
So yes it is not a real deal, but I think they are not smart enough to put that clearly in Terms and Conditions. But again, 10,000 min? I wonder what do you talk :-)

    Amit Chadda

  44. Dear Mr. Cahdda,
Thank you for your feedback. What you said make sense. The wholesale call rates to India with a good quality service is little over 1 cent. In the last poll that we had on our blog most of our readers said that they talk more than 2000 Minutes a month. However, there were people who said they talk for less than 500 minutes. I guess this is what the Voip service providers play with. Thank you once again for your comment.

  48. IndiaLD a total rip-off. Try it to learn more..
    hi,
I bought IndiaLD 1000 minute plan upon your suggestion and review. The 2 access numbers provided are busy most of the time and even when I go through, I get phased out while placing my call to India numbers. It says "busy" or "can't connect" and IndiaLD customer care is an abyss. I still have 700 minutes left and IndiaLD is now after my wallet again as it's been past a month. Can I get a refund for the remaining minutes or extension till I get more satisfied/used to with their worst service?

I have seen many impostors in calling cards but this website is unique. How to resolve?
