With the number of Apple devices increasing incessantly, it is imperative for VOIP service providers to develop better  VOIP solutions so that users can make use of these gadgets such as iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad to make cheap international calls. If you haven't already read our earlier post on how to turn your iPod touch into an iPhone, you should probably have a look at it. We are going to introduce you to a new iPhone application by Vopium that can help you make cheap international calls using your 3G or Wi-fi connection. Moreover, if you want you can even use the 3G voice service to route your calls over AT&T network.

Vopium's iPhone Application

Vopium is a VOIP service provider that provides mobile voip solutions. We have talked about their special call packages that you can select from based on which country you call the most. Now, they have launched their application for iPhone that you can use to make cheap international calls at Vopium's competitive rates. To start with, you get 15 minutes of free international calls as well as 15 free international SMS too. The cool thing about this application is beside calling your contacts on their phone, you can also make a phone call to them on their Skype, Gtalk etc. Phone calls between two Vopium users are free too. You can also post updates and follow your friends over twitter. It is also an instant messenger for Skype, MSN, Yahoo, Google Talk, AIM and ICQ.

How to get this application?

The easiest way to get an application on your iPhone is through App Store. Alternatively, you can download Vopium application to your PC or Mac and sync it with your phone using iTunes. If you are already a Vopium user you can enter your details or you can also create an account from the application itself. However, for new accounts you need to verify your phone number through a text message. If you do not have the free text plan you can use Google Voice to get that text message as it is just a link that a send as text.
With the new iPhone plans from AT&T you might want to see if you want to enable the 3G Data/VOIP calls in the settings menu which by default is set to disabled.
