MagicJack to offer web based free phone calls using MagicTalk

MagicJack has been a convenient solution for lots of people who want to make almost FREE calls to USA landlines and mobile phones. For just $20 per year it is the cheapest and convenient way to make unlimited  calls to USA and Canada. All you have to do is to plug the device into your USB and you are good to make FREE phone calls to USA. If you did not want to restrict yourself to use that device now you are in luck. MagicJack folks are launching a software that will let you make totally free calls to United States of America and Canada from anywhere in USA or Canada.

Basic MagicJack Device

The basic MagicJack device is a small device that connects to your computer or laptop's USB port and on the other end it has a jack where you can connect your ordinary telephone device. Then you can make calls to any number in USA and Canada. Moreover, you also get a number for your magicJack device, and whenever you get an incoming call your telephone device will ring. This makes setting up magic jack easy like a charm and is the main reason for its popularity.

Vocaltec to offer web based MagicJack

The company behind magicjack is going to release a web based solution similar to magicjack. You will be able to get a new phone number linked to the new magicTalk, like you do with a new MagicJack device. You can also transfer your exisiting numbers but for a small fee. MagicJack users will also be able to port their numbers soon. This software will soon be available for Windows as well as Mac computers. Similarly, smartphone users will also be able to get the same soon. Unlike Whistlephone there will be no ad or time limit on using this service. Users will only be charged when they are out of United States and Canada. VocalTec itself operates as a phone company and can charge other providers for call termination. This enables them to provide free phone calls. There was an interesting observation by a reader on Vinay's post on MagicJack where one reader asked if one can use this software through VPN. I am pretty sure it is possible but we will wait till we get our hands on this software. Let us know your thoughts on this.
