In our recent poll about popular calling destinations, it was revealed that the most called countries are India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh with 2117, 709, and 403 votes respectively, out of 4300 votes at the time of writing this blog. This list was followed by UK and UAE with exactly 200 votes each.
Unlimited offers to India
We have reviewed a lot of services that let you make unlimited calls to India. The cheapest and our featured offer was by CallToPBX where they offer unlimited calls to 80 countries for $10. Even though our readers have reported success with CalltoPBX, we occasionally hear cynical reviews for calltopbx as it is not an old VoIP service provider. Another widely subscribed offer is by Vonage where you get
- Unovon - Free Calls for $14.99 per month: A new service provider Unovon is offering a pan for $14.99 for unlimited calls to a host of countries including India, Bangladesh, Iraq, and UK among others. The rates go up to $22.99 after first 6 months. Additionally, there are taxes and fees added to these rates.
- Unovon Super Saver $11.99 Plan: This plan offers you 1000 minutes of calling anywhere in US and Canada. We recommend using Google Voice over this plan.
- Unovon Freedom $24.99/month for two lines: This offer gives you the same plan as the $14.99 plan but you get two lines with this plan.
Small Business Plans
- Unovon Business $44.99/month Plan: Business users are not supposed to use the residential plan. This might lead them to end up paying $100 bucks in administrative fees and the difference between residential and business plan. Business users however, can use this plan for $44.99 per month.
For more information on Unovon please see their website.
this is scam.. i signed up and used it for 15 days.. after that they told me overuseage.. i can not make calls anymore.. paied $58 for the first(include modam and service charge) and used it for only 15 days.. scam like lingo.. they are the same ppl.. be careful
ReplyDeleteDear Zahid,
ReplyDeleteAs per their fair use policy (read excerpt below) they can not charge you without a notice in advance. However, they don't mention a money back policy but we advise you to ask them if you can ship the modem back and get your money credited to your account.
"If your use of the plan is excessive or unreasonable we will contact you by phone or email, using the contact details you have provided to us. If after our request your usage continues at a similar level we may change you to an appropriate business plan, then charge you at the rates for that plan and backdated to when we made contact. "
It will also help our users in making an informed decision if you could tell us how many minutes did you use and to where. Thank you.

Team - Free Calls Hub
@Zahid- Wow thats a rip off... I called them up for a trial but they wanted to charge a full month fee for a trial of 5-6days. I am already using Vonage; the only problem with vonage is that its expensive.
ReplyDeleteIf I see some good revies of Unovon then I might give it a shot.
this is scam.. i signed up and used it for 15 days.. after that they told me overuseage.. i can not make calls anymore.. paied $58 for the first(include modam and service charge) and used it for only 15 days.. scam scam scam.....As per their fair use policy (read excerpt below) they can not charge you without a notice in advance SO THEY BAR YOUR INTERNATIONAL CALLING FACILITY WITHOUT TELLING HOW MANY MIUNTES WE USED...........YOU END UP BUYING MIUNTES WITH ANOTHER SERVICE PROVIDER... ReplyDeleteGuys - Lets be fair. I used Vonage. And as stated above, they are expensive. I used Unovon - used about 4000 minutes to India and not sure how many to USA (conference calls, work related, family and friends).. I have not been blocked yet. Got their service first time in October last year and returned in less than 14 days. I did get a refund for the device and prorated monthly charge. Signed up again in Jan 2011.
ReplyDeleteSo far so good....

I have been very patient and using Unovon for over 8 months now and finally disconnected as there is no improvement.
ReplyDeleteIssues:
Voice call quality is pretty bad.
Calls to land lines in small town in india 95% failure. When and if connected, it is not usable. Same landlines work fine with Reliance calling card.
Occasional attempts to fax met with line condition poor failure. Magic Jack works great for same faxes on same FIOS (fiber) internet connection.
Technical support is a joke. No one is reachable and call back never on time, typically few days later, not when needed.
Now, finally customer service is even worst. I was trying to call for 45min with no success yesterday, but for some success today. When I signed up I was told they have promotion at that time and device is free, but shipping is $12. Now, when I try to disconnect, they are so bitter, They do not want to honor the promotion, they want to send the modem back, does not want to send return label either.
I asked them to cancel 5 days after monthly billing cycle, and moved to vonage. Call quality difference is day and night ( I have both active now).
But they were so bitter, they want to screw customer as much as possible and wants charge me for device, shipping and full month billing. Any service,(cable, dish, directTV like example) they send return label. This guys no.
I would avoid these folks like plague.
Bottom line, $10 we think we are saving by using Unovon instead of Vonage is not worth it and combine with customer service, the things gets even worst.
Dear Reader,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your detailed review. We are sure it will be instrumental for our other readers to make well informed decision.

Poor customer service and quality.
ReplyDeleteForced to discontinue this service within month.
I complained for poor voice quality and caller id issue, and every time customer support answered "I will get back to you asap" . I waited for 1 month and finally discontinue the service. Paid full amount for not using complete service.
Poor and cheap company.
One more thing, they expect original packing, when you return your device, otherwise they will charge you $49. It looks cheap, but I paid around $80 for one month service ,no no, partial service.
donga langa kodukulu...chetta service...
ReplyDeletewaste customer executives....worst company ever seen..
